Assembled Mouthpiece & Barrel
To make our first sounds, we will begin with just the mouthpiece and the barrel. We will add the rest of the clarinet back on soon.
If your clarinet is already assembled, carefully remove the bell, lower joint, upper joint and place them back in the case to keep them protected.

About Ms. Davidson
Karen Davidson is proud to call the Greater Sacramento area home and feels especially grateful to teach in the same San Juan Unified School District that shaped her as a student. A graduate of Del Campo High School, she followed her passion for music at American River College, earning associate degrees in music and liberal arts, before continuing on to California State University, Sacramento, where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Music Performance. She later completed her Master of Music Education through American Band College at Central Washington University in 2021.
For more than 25 years, Ms. Davidson has dedicated her career to the students of San Juan Unified. She began by leading before- and after-school elementary band programs, inspiring young musicians at the very start of their journeys. After earning her teaching credential through an internship with San Joaquin Teachers College, she transitioned to the secondary level. Over the years, she has taught students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, though middle school holds a special place in her heart. She currently teaches band, choir, and music appreciation at Louis Pasteur Middle School in Orangevale, where she strives to create a classroom community built on excellence, encouragement, and joy in music-making.
Beyond her classroom, Ms. Davidson has served her district as Secondary Lead Vocal Teacher and Secondary Lead Band Teacher and was honored to guest conduct the 2019 SJUSD Elementary Honor Band. She was named Orangevale Rotary Teacher of the Year in 2021 and SJUSD Teacher of the Year in 2024. She also serves as the California Music Educators Association Capitol Section Middle School Choir Representative, continuing her commitment to supporting music education beyond her own campus.
An active performer, Ms. Davidson plays French horn with several local ensembles, including the Camellia Symphony, ARC Orchestra, Auburn Symphony, The Beatles Guitar Project, and d’Oro Symphony. Music remains both her profession and her joy.
When she’s not teaching or performing, she can often be found with a book in hand, tending her garden, spending time with her adult children, or walking local trails—usually with a well-earned pup cup waiting at the end for her favorite four-legged companion.
